Supporting You Through Difficult Times

Hi there, and welcome to Sakaura Pathways Counselling! I'm Linda.

As you arrive here I understand you may be going through something tough, and it's completely understandable you will have some questions swirling around about how I can help you. I want to make finding the answers as easy as possible – no complex counselling jargon or long-winded explanations, just simple, straightforward information.

After exploring my site, if anything's still on your mind, or if you're ready to book an initial consultation, or even just fancy a no-pressure chat to see if counselling feels right for you, don't hesitate to reach out.

What can I support you with?

Sometimes life feels heavy, whether you're facing low mood, anxiety, stress, or feelings of hopelessness. You might be living with depression, struggling to cope with overwhelming emotions, or having thoughts of suicide. These experiences can feel incredibly isolating, but you don’t have to face them alone. I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental space where we can gently explore what’s going on for you and find ways to ease the weight you're carrying.

As well as supporting people with things like anxiety and depression, I work with those experiencing life’s painful transitions, such as bereavement (including pet loss), relationship endings, redundancy, identity issues, trauma, neurodivergent challenges, or navigating times that leave you feeling uncertain or untethered. I am also passionate about men's mental health, understanding the specific challenges men can encounter. As both a trauma, and autism-informed practitioner, I bring a mindful and tailored approach to our sessions, acknowledging the deep impact of past experiences and neurodiversity on your well-being.

Whatever you’re going through, I’ll walk alongside you with care and understanding, helping you find steadier ground at your own pace.

Why chose to work with me?

At Sakaura Pathways Counselling, my aim is to offer you a warm, supportive, and confidential space, somewhere you can safely share whatever you’re going through, without fear of judgment. Whether it’s the good, the bad, or the messy in-between, everything you bring is welcome here.

Together, we’ll take things at your pace. I’ll listen with care, compassion and empathy to understand your world and how it feels for you. Through this connection, you’ll begin to feel less alone and more understood.

Counselling can help you gain clarity, self-awareness, and new ways to move forward. We’ll work together to gently explore your thoughts and feelings, uncover what’s holding you back, and find the kind of change that feels right for you.

Alongside my core counselling training, I’ve also completed specialist learning in a number of areas to ensure I can meet a wide range of needs with sensitivity and safety. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), and I fully adhere to their professional standards. I am also registered with the Information Commisions Office (ICO). This means you can trust that your wellbeing, dignity, and privacy will always come first.

What kind of counselling do I offer?

I understand that everyone’s needs are different, which is why I offer counselling in a way that works best for you. You can attend In-person Counselling in Derby (DE1) or Ashby-de-la-Zouche (LE65), alternatively you could try Outdoor Eco-therapy/Walk and Talk therapy in South Derbyshire. In addition, I also offer Online and Telephone Counselling, if this is more suitable to you. You can find out more about the different options below.

I am trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Psychodynamic Theory. But therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. We will tailor our sessions together, choosing what feels right for you and adjusting as your needs evolve.

You’ll always be part of the conversation about how we work. Whether you're looking for structure, reflection, or just a space to breathe, we’ll find a way that fits.

 How do I provide therapy?

Outdoor (Eco) Therapy

Outdoor therapy can be a wonderfully calming and comfortable way to experience counselling. For many people, walking side-by-side in nature feels more natural, and less intense than sitting face-to-face in a room. The rhythm of walking, the fresh air, the open space, it all helps to create a soothing environment where thoughts and feelings can flow more freely. Nature has a quiet power, it can calm the nervous system, ease anxiety, and lift our mood. Whether we’re strolling through woodland paths or sitting in a peaceful green spaces, being outdoors often brings a gentle sense of clarity and emotional release.

Online/Telephone Counselling

Sometimes, just getting to an appointment can feel like one more thing to juggle. Online/telephone counselling offers a flexible, accessible way to get support, without the added pressure of travel or time constraints. You can join our sessions from wherever you feel most at ease, whether that's your sofa, kitchen table, or a quiet private space that feels safe for you.

Our sessions are completely secure and confidential, and you’ll receive the same warmth, empathy, and non-judgemental support as you would in person. This way of working makes it easier to prioritise your wellbeing, without having to step out of your comfort zone.

In the Room Counselling

Some people feel most comfortable with the more traditional approach, sitting together in a quiet, private room where we can talk one-to-one without distractions.
I offer in-person sessions in my counselling rooms in Derby (DE1 1FT) and Ashby-de-la-Zouche (LE65 1AH), which provide a warm, private space, and to help you feel at ease.
For many, having a dedicated space away from home (and out of the wind and rain!) can provide a real sense of focus and comfort as we explore whatever you’re facing, at your own pace.

Life doesn’t always go to plan, and when it feels overwhelming, it can make all the difference to have someone in your corner. You don’t have to figure everything out on your own. I’ll be alongside you, listening, supporting, and helping you find your way forward. Together, we’ll work towards healing, clarity, and a life that feels more manageable, meaningful, and fulfilling.
